Simon started his career working for a news magazine in Wales before working as a Research Officer, first for the Transport and General Workers’ Union and then the Wales TUC. He was the Chief Executive of the Wales Co-operative Centre for 10 years which became the largest such agency in the UK under his leadership.
Prior to joining Odgers, Simon was the Chair of Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust and before that Chair of Bro Taf Health Authority. He first became involved in the NHS as a member of South Glamorgan Health Authority in 1989.
Simon has been a Trustee of the Industrial Common Ownership Fund, a member of the United Kingdom Co-operative Council and a member of the Welsh Assembly Government’s community housing mutual working group.
Simon chaired the Commission which reviewed the National Assembly for Wales’ Voluntary Sector Scheme and was a member of the Council of Cardiff University. He was also an Independent Board member for RCT Homes. He is currently a Charity Commission Board member and a member of Cardiff Business School’s International Advisory Board.
Born in London to Welsh parents Simon Jones moved to Wales after reading Politics at Exeter University.
