Nicky Oppenheimer chairs the Central Government Practice. She deals with a wide range of Chief Executive, senior executive, board and public appointments for government departments, their agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
A Barrister by training, Nicky had a wide and varied career in the Civil Service, moving out of her legal specialism to combine her legal background with a personnel focus. For six and a half years she was Head of Corporate Resources and Services, first in the former Lord Chancellor's Department, and latterly in the Cabinet Office. At Odgers Nicky has developed the central government practice where much of the focus of her work has been on bringing private sector expertise and talent into the public sector.
Nicky also leads the Arts & Heritage Practice, specialising in appointments in the arts, heritage, museums and galleries and a number of other associated fields. She is a trustee of The English Concert and the Early Opera Company and sits on the development Board of the Royal Academy of Music.
Arts & heritage executive search, covering the placement of key figures in the burgeoning international cultural field, is an area in which Odgers Berndtson excels.
