Carrie Mandel

Carrie A. Mandel is a Partner in the Toronto and New York offices of Odgers Berndtson. She leads the firm’s Legal and Compliance practice in North America and plays a key role in expanding the firm’s business in other areas including financial services, business and professional services, and healthcare.

Carrie brings over 12 years of executive search experience, joining Odgers Berndtson in 2010 after spending five years with Russell Reynolds as an Executive Director in New York. Carrie leads General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and other senior legal, compliance and C-level searches for clients across a range of industries. She also leads searches for leadership roles with law firms and professional services firms in both Canada and the US.

From 2000-2005, Carrie was a Managing Director with Major, Lindsey & Africa in New York. She recruited partners and associates to law firms and General Counsels and direct reports to General Counsels across a spectrum of companies.

Prior to her search career, she practiced law as a litigation associate at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett and Patterson, Belknap Webb & Tyler in New York.

Carrie received her B.A. summa cum laude in Comparative Literature from Princeton University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

Carrie is a speaker at industry conferences, including at two National Association of Women Lawyers events, the BLG Roundtable on the Advancement and Retention of Women in Professional Services and the Professional Services Leadership Growth Forum. She has published commentary pieces in the Globe and Mail on the changing role of the General Counsel and the hiring challenges facing law firms. Carrie has been quoted in numerous publications including Canadian Lawyer Magazine and the Financial Post. She also wrote an opinion piece for the Globe & Mail’s Facts & Arguments section.
