The UK has a strong indigenous industry, notable aggregates, clay bricks/tiles, cement, ready-mixed concreted, concrete blocks/roofing tiles, glass and slate.  The largest market sub-sectors by value are cement, concrete products, ready-mixed concrete, timber and bricks. The UK building materials market continues to undergo to a process of consolidation, which has resulted in the domination of the market by a small number of large and often overseas-based groups.
