With their international outlook and trans-governmental remits, appointing leaders to Non-Governmental Organisations is debatably one of the most difficult areas of search. The linguistic and political sophistication that is required from individuals who operate in international arenas is immense and so those with the requisite skills and abilities are few and far between.
Yet we have a proven track record in finding outstanding people who not only have the technical skills to provide management expertise within what are often large, complex organisations but a genuine understanding of the delicate environment within which an NGO operates and a personal buy in to the agenda and culture of the organisation.
We work hard to make this happen. The international outlook of an NGO means that there is inevitably a multiplicity of stakeholders, often with diverging viewpoints. There are also complex, multi-sited governance structures and sensitive relations with international institutions that can affect the flow of funding.
We know that our NGO clients need to trust us amidst these pressures. We recognise fully that the appointment of trustees, directors, policy specialists and of course Chief Executives is not just about the process but how we as consultants absorb and work within the culture that will surround them.
Our function experts can advise on specific roles and our Interim Management and Select teams can help to fulfil temporary and middle management roles. Our assessment team also offers a wide range of assessment solutions.
