Thorntons is the UK’s leading listed premium confectionery brand with revenues of c£214.8million and profits of £8.1million. A multi-channel business, it sells through its own Retail Stores, Thorntons Direct and through wholesale or ‘commercial’ sales to third parties. As a vertically integrated business, most products are produced in-house at an impressive facility in Derbyshire. A new Chief Executive is sought to drive major changes, particularly in the retail business, to deliver significant profit improvements, increase shareholder value and unleash the business’ true potential.The Role
*Play a fundamental role in Thorntons’ next stage of development by providing vision and clarity of direction. Set priorities and improve the performance of each element of the business.
*Drive consumer insight led product and concept innovation and explore all strategic options. Identify growth opportunities and create a compelling business case that will increase brand equity through each channel.
*Develop a cohesive multi-channel strategy that recognises customers’ changing consumption and shopping habits and emerging opportunities.
The Candidate
*Track record of leading and growing a successful commercial, consumer facing business. Significant retail multi-site experience is required.
*Experience or understanding of developing and protecting the value of a leading consumer brand is essential. An affinity with, rather than an intimate knowledge of the confectionery sector is preferred.
*Excellent leadership skills with a track record of structuring teams for success, driving performance through people and building high performance organisations.
