Premier Rugby is the organisation which represents the 12 professional Rugby Union clubs who compete in the Guinness Premiership, the Heineken Cup and the European Challenge Cup (rugby union’s two European competitions), and the EDF Energy Cup (an Anglo-Welsh competition). It was created in 1997 shortly after rugby union went professional in England.The Chairman will:
• Run the PRL Board and be responsible for all corporate governance. The time commitment will be no less than a day a week and will be remunerated accordingly.
• Be accountable to the shareholders for the performance of the Board and its subcommittees and the reputation of the PRL.
• Develop relationships with other sporting bodies and with Government to improve the environment for the achievement of PRL’s Strategic Objectives.
