
The company is an international chemical distributor which has developed a comprehensive service for the sourcing, distribution and dispensing of a specialty chemical component for exhaust gas after-treatment systems. The adoption of exhaust gas after-treatment systems across Europe was being driven by legislation and the client wished to capitalise on an early technological breakthrough to establish a commanding position in this niche market.
The task was to find a Managing Director for the business. We offered the client a coordinated pan-European search to find candidates with the required pan-European, multi-cultural focus and background. The appointed candidate was Dutch and had spent fourteen years with Royal Dutch/Shell Group in a range of engineering and commercial management roles. Latterly, with Shell International Oil Products, he had held significant commercial roles in a business with similar challenges to those facing this client in the short and medium term, and had been interfacing with a similar customer base.
